Event

‘Boosting Lead Generation’ – Scunthorpe

North Lincolnshire

24 March 2010

On the 27th July 2010 The Social Media Academy will be hosting a one-day training course at BSG House in London, entitled “Maximising use of Social Media in Journalism – Beginners’ Introduction”.

If you know that social media is growing in importance for journalism but don’t know where to start, this could be ideal for you.

By the end of the day you will be equipped with tools and techniques that you can start using straight away to ensure confidence, clarity, productivity and success in social media for journalism.

For example, you will have a clear understanding of how to monitor online events effectively and flag breaking stories quickly; you will be confident in your ability to maximise the use of social media to increase readership figures; and you’ll be productive because you’ll respond to reader comments in an appropriate manner. And, because we believe in practice as well as theory, we will look at real-life working examples of social media in journalism. So you will get to see what success looks like.

The course will look at the following areas: • A full overview of the various types of social media platforms • Insight into the most up-to-date social media trends and developments • Social media as a primary information source: how to monitor events online and assign levels of importance to comment sources • How to use social media to distribute content • Twitter as a journalist tool Managing reader comments in response to journalist articles • Measurement & evaluation – how to track the success of social media activity • Best-in-class case studies There are limited places available and seats are booked on a first-come first-served basis.
