The programme allows eight million Barclaycard cardholders to collect instant cash rewards for using their Barclaycard when they shop.

Barclaycard has set up an SMS system that allows cardholders to access a list of participating retailers and offers on the move.
Point of sale materials will promote the scheme in stores.

Shell already operate their inhouse loyalty card "Drivers Club", which allows cash back vouchers and rewards such as gift experiences and ties in with AirMiles. The collaboration with BarclayCard Freedom could give rise to some very complex loyalty transactions.
