British Gas launches iPhone app
British Gas has launched an iPhone application to help customers control their energy use.

Customers can use the Meter Read App to submit meter readings to British Gas and get more accurate energy bills.
The app has been developed by digital and brand agency Rufus Leonard.
It follows the launch of British Gas’s EnergySmart monthly billing initiative which aims to help customers control their energy use and end estimated billing by allowing customers to provide their own energy readings.
Customers can submit energy readings online, by text or via the new iPhone app.
EnergySmart launched in November with the support of a £5m marketing push.
Benjamin Braun, head of online services at British Gas, says: “The iPhone App is another great customer service tool that will help customers avoid estimated bills. We are committed to helping our customers understand, control and manage their energy consumption.”
Earlier this month, the government announced plans to install smart energy meters in all British households by 2020, a move utilities providers say will improve the customer experience.
