Facebook launches B2B site

Facebook has launched a new site to help businesses use the social network more effectively.

Facebook For Business is aimed at small businesses, rather than big brands, and offers tips on how to create pages, ads and use the Facebook platform for social plug-ins or apps.

It is the latest in a series of pages and websites launched to help companies understand how using Facebook can benefit them.

A Facebook spokeswoman says: “Facebook allows small businesses to create rich social experiences, build lasting relationships and amplify the most powerful type of marketing - word of mouth. We created Facebook.com/business to make it even easier for people to reach these objectives and grow.”

Facebook also has pages of its own across categories such as music, media and marketing. In March this year, the social networked launched Facebook Studio, an online resource to showcase creative campaigns that have used the social network for brand activity.

The launch of the business site comes as Google begins to trial business accounts on its fledgling Google+ social network. The search giant has asked brands to apply to be part of a test, ahead of a full Google+ business launched later in the year.
