Liverpool fans ready YouTube protest
Liverpool fans have stepped up their campaign to oust the club’s current owners by starring in a viral alongside actors Ricky Tomlinson and Joe McGann.

The YouTube clip is to launch on Tuesday and will feature supporters venting their anger over the £237m debt that the club’s current owners, Tom Hicks and George Gillett have saddled the club with.
Earlier reports had suggested that the film would feature Hollywood stars and Liverpool fans including Mike Myers, Samuel L Jackson and Daniel Craig but it is not thought that they were at the filming.
Screenwriter Mike Jefferies, who penned the Goal! films, asked fans to attend the filming in Liverpool on Saturday (2 October).
He wants to highlight the depth of opposition to the current owners and persuade potential backers not to back Hicks and Gillett at the club.
The two have a deadline later this month to repay the £237m they owe Royal Bank of Scotland or refinance the deal.
Fans pressure group Spirit of Shankly is calling on RBS not to prolong the duo’s tenure at the club or face protests.
A spokesman told the Liverpool Echo: “We will be continuing to protest up until the last day. We want to step up the campaign. We will protest at LFC matches, but also at the banks and everyone involved in any sale.”

They have to go now. I do not want my club to end up like Leeds. The club should belong to the fans just like Barca!! We, the fans know what is right for the club because we live and breath Liverpool F C. Lets face it, you can not con Scousers and these muppets have tried to do this from day one!!

I support the protests 100% and as much as it pains me to say, but the protests will be more effective outside the grounds, if no money goes through the ticket office, it'll hit harder, banks will pay attention too then if they see that attendence will drop or even end whilst the Yanks are there! I'm not saying stop supporting in the slightest and I know the players will be hit by it too, but hopefully they will understand! LFC 4 life YNWA

I hear what people are saying about boycotting and the protests would be far better off outside of the ground but there is a very big BUT. Majority of the seats within Anfield are held by season ticket owners who pay for their seat in advance. What benefit would it be if they chose not to attend? The owners already have their cash in the bank. You can then argue don't buy a season ticket but then another big BUT. LFC has a 20 year waiting list for season tickets if you have been a season ticket holder for the last however many years then why would you want to give up that entitlement to renew to be placed on the bottom of list again if and when a sale goes through? You could then argue their could be no club left in months if not weeks, but LFC will go on whatever and it will get the club back to its roots.

IMO you have to protest wherever and whenever you can that's both inside the ground and outside. Imagine if a large proportion of the ground was covered in yanks out and the like cameras couldn't fail to show them no matter if live or highlights. We have to show the world that supporters mean business and INFORM. We must use every opportunity to inform and make people sit up and take notice inc non football fans all over the world not just in the UK. YNWA
