Bingo Association launches campaign to protect the game

The Bingo Association is launching a major advertising campaign urging the Government to safeguard the future of the game.
The organisation has appointed integrated agency Spinnaker to create the "Stop Destroying My Bingo" campaign, which calls on the 3.1 million regular bingo players in England and Wales to sign a petition to lobby the Government for support.
The Bingo Association says it has been forced to act because bingo is one of the highest taxed gambling activities in the UK and because the new gambling laws that come into force later this year threaten its long-term future.
Spinnaker, which was appointed without a pitch after working with the National Bingo Game Association, has developed a press, poster and below-the-line campaign to encourage people to sign the petition.
A Bingo Association spokesman says: "As many as 200 clubs are under threat of closure. Unless the Government takes steps to address the policies unfairly affecting bingo, businesses will close, jobs will be lost and communities will lose a key social facility."
