Campaign targets male victims of domestic abuse

JWT London is launching a campaign for the National Centre for Domestic Violence (NCDV), to highlight the fact that one man dies as a result of domestic abuse every three weeks.

The print and television campaign focuses on the embarrassment and trauma experienced by many male domestic violence victims who often feel too ashamed to report the crimes they’ve suffered or to ask for help.
JWT London has teamed up with photographer Nadav Kander, to produce an image of an emasculated man who appears to have no genitalia. The image is accompanied by the words “we know how it feels to be a victim of male domestic violence.”
By launching this campaign, the NCDV hopes to heighten awareness of male domestic violence, which affects a substantial number of men across the UK.
Joseph Petyan, joint managing director of JWT London, says: “It’s really important to get involved in campaigns like this; it’s such an important cause and we feel that the shocking nature of the image we’ve used really reflects the seriousness of the issue.”
According to the NCDV every third victim of domestic violence is a man, with some four million men affected every year

If we understood that we all only PRACTICE bullying others, but are really MASTERS at bullying ourselves, then we might stop domestic AND world violence/

Distorted use of figures and completely ignores the number of men who make allegations of abuse as part of their own abusive behaviour. One man dies every three weeks, huh? Did the ad agency stop to check how many of those were perpetrators and how many were genuine victims?

I well believe the figures. I work supportiong male victim and see the consequences every single day. Not enough is done to support men and I believe the figures to be even higher.more like 1 in 2 victims are male.
