Chester Zoo has appointed Havas Sports and Entertainment to devise a brand partnership strategy focusing on the zoo’s plans to become the largest conservation, animal and leisure attraction in Europe.

The visitor attraction’s £225m plan, under the working title ‘Natural Vision’, will involve a £90 million first phase that will include an innovative domed ecosystem.

The bio-dome will be an African rainforest-themed sanctuary for a wide variety of wildlife including gorillas.

Other plans for the zoon include a 90-bed ‘wildlife’ hotel, a Conservation College, and a marina development.

Havas Sports & Entertainment won the brief after a pitch and has been appointed to analyse and evaluate the potential value of a brand partnership of Chester Zoo and of the Natural Vision project, and to develop a commercial strategy for how this potential may be maximized.

It will also look to secure long-term commercial partners.

Prof Gordon McGregor Reid, Director General of Chester Zoo, says: “We look forward to utilising their obvious commercial expertise and their relationships with many of the world’s leading brands as we seek to attract partners to help us continue to develop Chester Zoo into a spectacular visitor experience, and help support our conservation, science and veterinary projects around the world.”
