David Beckham stars alongside Han Solo in Adidas ad
Adidas has launched a Star Wars-themed World Cup campaign featuring characters from the movie alongside brand ambassadors including David Beckham, Noel Gallagher and Snoop Dogg.
The advertisement, the latest for its Adidas Originals fashion range, is a “re-edit” of the Mos Eisley Cantina bar scene from the movie.
Some of the stars are shown in the bar waiting to watch football while others stand in for the movie’s characters.
The campaign, which also features Franz Beckenbauer, Ciara, Jay Baruchel and Daft Punk alongside Star Wars characters Han Solo, Chewbacca, C-3PO and Obi-Wan Kenobi , will break on television in the UK and the US on 12 June.
Adidas recently launched a World Cup campaign starring footballers Lionel Messi David Villa and ex-France and Real Madrid star Zinedine Zidane.
The sports brand is an official FIFA partner.
The “The Street Where Originality Lives” Star Wars ad was created following an agreement between Lucasfilm and Adidas.

I think I'm way into my Star Wars too much to like this! I can see why they thought it was a good idea, but that's where the idea fails. There is no story, or dialogue as they are trapped with the original script, which does nothing for Adidas. There is nothing to this other than a Star Wars scene, which has been well cut up to include the Adidas stars. What is the point?
