Ofcom receives X-factor complaints
ITV and Ofcom have both received complaints about talent show The X Factor following Saturday’s (7 November) controversial show that saw Simon Cowell put the decision to keep twins John and Edward in the show to a public vote.

The commercial TV channel has confirmed it has received 3,000 complaints about the show.
An Ofcom spokesman could not confirm the number or nature of complaints it has received. The broadcasting regulator may launch an investigation into the show. Details are expected tomorrow (11 November).
The X Factor is one of ITV’s biggest generators of advertising revenue. The series is currently sponsored by broadband and mobile operator Talk Talk.
Welsh singer, Lucie Jones, was kicked off the ITV show after Simon Cowell, who had the deciding vote between the 18-year-old singer and the twins, who have been nicknamed “Jedward” by the public.
By opting for the twins, in what is being called a “U-turn” for the record producer, Cowell tied the judges’ vote and put the decision in the hands of the public.
Cowell has previously panned “Jedward’s” performances.
The twins have become firm favourites to win the ITV show despite wide criticism for their lack of singing talent.
Last week, ITV reported that group revenues fell 11% in the first nine months of the year to £1.3 billion.

We are not told what the nature of the comments are, however isn't this obvious?
Having previously criticised the twins and going as far as to say he will leave the country if Jedward wins, he then has an opportunity to get them out and doesn't. Lots of my friends have said they will think twice about watching again. Come on Simon, are you worried about the competition?

At the end of the day the public voted more for the Twins that Lucie, How is that Simons fault? This is alot of nonsence, if the public really wanted to keep Lucie in then they should have vited for her, simple as that.

Is Simon really worried about the competition. I don't think so. I believe it is a simple tactic to maintain PR exposure as well as high revenue from the phone calls the public make in either trying to keep the twins in or to get them out?

I think that its pretty simple . People would rather see Jedward because as a nation we love to hate. Yes Lucie was a better singer but she was a bit blah . She has nothing of any interest to say . There is enough good singers out there , we need someone who can capture us one way or another . Love them or hate them but Jedward are the new guilty pleasure

I can't really see what peoples' problem is here - surely it's better to go with the public vote rather than give the judges the ultimate decision - at least then the price of the phonecall is justified.

If the view is that 'fewest votes so get her / them off" then we do not need any 'sing off' - just let the lowest one go. No judges votes either !

There appears now that there is no need for a sing off on x factor, just let the public vote and end it there. It's a sham really.

This was a very clever move on behalf of Simon Cowell! Not only has it got everyone talking about the XFactor, the show has been spoken about on every TV channel and Radio Station. People will tune in out of curiosity to watch the twins- in hope they will get kicked off- It will also up the voting, meaning more revenue for the show. It may have been a stupid idea to keep the twins in as they are rubbish, but Simon Cowell can now sit back and relax knowing that everyone is talking about his show!

This is so ridiculous. There is a public vote and by rights the person with the lowest vote should go out. That's what happened so what really is everyone complaining about?
