Royal Mail appoints Canada Post boss as chief executive

Greene will take up her post in mid-July and replaces Adam Crozier, who left to join ITV earlier this year.

Greene has been with Canada Post for five years. She has worked in Canada’s private sector - including stints at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and aircraft manufacturer Bombardier - and public sector.

The move comes a week after the coalition government announced plans to part-privatise Royal Mail.

The government is seeking an “injection of private capital” but has so-far stopped short at detailing how much of the postal service will be sold.

Any sale could include the firm’s media business which runs the recently launched Insight targeting tool and marketers’ planning resource Mail Media Centre. It could also mean the sale of direct mail delivery services.
The privatisation could lead to industrial action by postal workers with the Communication Workers Union vowing to oppose the plans.
