Volkswagen ad looks on the bright side of life
Volkswagen is launching a summer campaign for its Passat model, telling consumers to think positive despite the doom and gloom of the recession.

DDB has created the “Positive Thinking” TV ad which will break on 4 July on UKTV channels and across cinemas.
The execution features a man who is down on his luck, cheerily strolling through a landscape bearing all the signs of the economic crisis, such as ‘closing down’ sales, weary bankers and empty estate agents offices.
However, the man manages to remain positive as he is driving his Volkswagen Passat.
The agency says the thinking behind the narrative is that in the midst of the economic gloom there are some things you can still depend on such as the Passat.
Elsewhere, German sports carmaker Porsche has rejected Volkswagen’s offer to take a 49% stake into the debt-ridden company.
In May, Porsche received a 700m euro loan from Volkswagen.
Porsche has now begun talks to sell a stake of its business to investment fund Qatar Investment Authority (QIA).
