@Anonymous - I don't think it is an easy question as to the future of marketing or the skills/structures needed within marketing? Do you have the answer. If so please let us know ;) Even within Econsultancy, which is a small B2B organisation, we have made structural decisions around marketing that are not 'obvious' or easy. For example, we've just employed a "Data Manager" who sits in Marketing but our "Social Media Manager" and "Content Marketing Executive" sit within the Editorial Team not the marketing team. The rise of data, the increasing use of technology, the role of 'content marketing' etc. all pose substantial questions as to marketing's function I think. Futhermore, within digital, there is a strong move towards 'product management' underway which threatens to marginalise marketing significantly.
