Gocompare’s opera singer gets the silent treatment

Gocompare.com has silenced its opera singer character Gio Compario in homage to silent movies, in its latest television ad.
The black and white ad sees Gio Compario and a group of hapless police men attempt to rescue a car balancing on a cliff edge, while pushing its car insurance product.
The ad airs for the first time on Christmas Day.
The Gio character is also releasing a single in an effort to reach the Christmas number one spot in the charts.
His version of “Santa Claus is coming to town” is in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Home Insurance
· When policyholders were asked unprompted to declare “Which company do you have your current home/building and content insurance policy with” the most stated companies were Direct Line (6%), Halifax (5%) and then Aviva (5%).
· Four fifths of UK adults who cancelled a standalone building insurance policy now have a combined home insurance policy.
· Adults who own either a combined policy or both separate contents and buildings cover tend to be relatively mature, with those owning separate policies slightly more affluent in terms of socio-economic grade and household income.
· In 2009, high value home insurance represented around 8-9% of the home insurance market in terms of gross written premiums, but some industry insiders believe that should be closer to 30% if all the wealthy households in the UK were covered to adequate levels.
