The Sun launches Lego ad
The Sun and News of the World newspapers have launched a new TV ad to promote their free Lego offer.

The ad features a Lego king, voiced by comedian Ben Miller, announcing the free offer to his legion of Lego followers.
The newspapers’ social networking pages will also feature daily Lego comedy short films to promote the giveaway.
The Sun and the News of the World are offering coupons to collect seven free Lego toys from 14 May until 20 May. The toys include the Star Wars X Wing, the Black Pearl boat from Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean and the Ninjango Skeleton Chopper.
Readers can redeem their vouchers at WHSmith and Toys R Us.
The Daily Mirror ran a similar promotion earlier this month, when the paper gave away six Dr Who toys redeemable from Toys R Us and Sainsbury’s. However, it lost its Lego promotion this year to News International following a competitive pitch.
The TV ad was created by WCRS & Co and Hornet.

I want to say that the sun promotion is absolute joke !! My son was so excited to see the promotion on my daily paper which I made promises I would make the journey everyday for him to collect the Lego well today is Wednesday and I have yet to get one piece not because I haven't made the 10 miles journey everyday but because toys r us staff have told me they do not have them in stock I think this is a joke why advertise this !!!! I then travelled into whsmiths today after the kids went to school to be told they were out of stock !!! Why not meat the demand ! The disappointment of my son was so bad that I ended up buying him Lego , I have spent a small fortune on this Lego promotion which is meant to be free on fuel costs and buying Lego. It makes me so angry !! When the mirror ran the promotion they at least send the stores Lego! Let's just say I won't be picking up the sun paper again to avoid such a lot of disappointment and trouble !

Hi there, as a Mother of LEGO mad fans we have had a similar experience! It's a great promotional idea but totally backfiring for the Sun. Our local WHSmith has more LEGO than sun newspapers, so you can guess what happens. You get the LEGO without the paper, not quite what the promo was intended for! Today, the LEGO fans were so keen not to miss out (as the last few days they have been sold out), we got up mega early to hit WHSmith before the school run! Now that's what I call dedication!

Our grandson would have liked lego promotion, but alas!!! there are none to be had, why dissapoint children like this, it would be alright if the tokens could be posted on, that would solve a lot of problems

Great idea, appalling support from the promotion. Either no lego or no newspapers or both. Disappointed kids, frustrated parents, wasted petrol, parking, bus tickets and most precious of all, time. Congratulations to the News of the World, keep it up.

I have been lucky enough to get three of the five days of Lego, but was maddened to find that not only were there sellers on ebay with 20+ pieces of promo Lego for sale at hugely jacked up prices, but that there where also listings for the following days Lego. I can only assume that the stock is not making it to the shop floor and instead finding it's way on to sites like eBay to make someone a profit. This has to be the worst FREE Lego promo ever.

It has been a terrible promotion, I have only managed to get 1 set and was told by the sales person they are understocked and poeple are queing from opening time to try and get them. I have tried to contact the sun and the NOTW but so far have benn ingored. Therefore, i now refuse to buy their rubbish paper and have so far prevented/stopped 27 other people an di'm still going.

I think it is rediculous that you have to go in on the same day. I gave up i couldnt get down on the same day and threw away my vouchers and didnt bother for the rest of the week. Only to find that my work collegue managed to get his the day after. Gutted!

after only being able to pick up the papers and never actually able to collect one of the lego characters,i was also one of many that got in touch with watchdog who have said that the sun and news of the world are actually goin to send out these lego toys to the many that was unable to claim there freebie toy,so i suppose that is a bit of good news should i recieve them that is?as not only did i end up with a very upset child i was also out of pocket for the travel i had to go out of my way to pay as we had to travel from cheltenham to gloucester to try at toys r us as they were always sold out at whsmiths, only to find they were completly out at this store too, fingers crossed these companies will now stick to their word and make alot of the unhappy kids who were eagerly collecting the vouchers and let down happier wen they get the toys?
